Switzerland - mountain peaks higher than 4,000 metres

Switzerland is world renowned as probably the most famous country for skiing, with the iconic Matterhorn, which towers above Zermatt, recognisable by so many. In fact, a good 100 of Switzerland's mountain peaks rise to the heady heights of close to or higher than 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) and over 30 percent of them can be found around the resorts of Zermatt and Saas-Fee.

Generally, you will fly into either Geneva or Zurich from where transfers can be arranged, although most people utilise the impressive Swiss railway network to many of the Swiss resorts as the efficiency and comfort of the Swiss railway system is second to none.
Although Switzerland has many cantons the most of the famous Swiss ski resorts are found in the Valais including Zermatt, Verbier and Saas-Fee. English is widely spoken throughout Switzerland, along with their local language which will be either German, French, Italian or Romansch.
